Albert Surette
May 31st 1960 — Jun 28th 2023 (63 years)
Biography
Albert Frederick Surette passed away in Halifax on June 28, 2023, at the young age of 63. He was born and raised in Halifax, and later lived in Cape Breton for many years, where he worked at Plaza Ford, and later the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. His courageous battle with diabetes in recent years showed his willingness to face life’s challenges with a positive attitude and a smile, particularly when he saw and talked with his two beautiful daughters, Nicole, and Madison. Despite his pain, Albert stayed strong until the very end when he passed peacefully with family and friends at his bedside. An avid Montreal Canadiens fan and hockey card collector, Albert’s loyalty to his favourite team never waned, regardless of the teasing when the win-column was not particularly stellar. Albert was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Dorothy, brother Peter, and sister Linda (Clifford Snook) Gale. He will be forever missed by his daughters Nicole (Phil) and Madison (Louis), brother Donnie (Sandra) Surette, and sisters Thelma (Jim) Parker and Dorothy (Jimmy) Painting, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Albert’s family is graciously appreciative for the nurses and doctors at the Halifax Infirmary who cared for him so thoughtfully these past few months. Cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held on July 11, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at 338 Amesbury Gate, Bedford.

The first day I met Uncle Albert, he was standing outside of his sister (Tammys) house. He never met me before, but he grabbed me and pulled me into his arms and gave me a big hug. His nephew (Jerome) and his sister (Dorothy) introduced me to him by saying, "This is Albert." And Albert quickly said "No, I'm UNCLE Albert to you." And from that moment forward It was always Uncle Albert. I got the privilege to go visit him a few times in Cape Breton and always made it a point to see him when he came to visit. When he moved to Halifax again, I didn't get the chance to go see him before he passed but we did keep in contact through messages/texts. My last words to him were "Keep me updated." On his health, and "I love you." His last words to me was "love you too" and I am glad that our last words were that, and I am so so glad he is no longer in pain. I will see you again some day. Rest in Peace Uncle Albert.

Albert was always such a gentle caring young man. Growing up in the same neighborhood you would always see Albert smiling, and such a friendly smile, not realizing that the day would come that we would be related as in-laws. R.I.P. Albert. 🙏🙏

My memory's of my Uncle Albert will be cherished. He will forever be loved. I am happy to know he is with my family in spirt. We all have been lucky to have had you in our lives. You were an amazing man that taught all his neices and nefwes to work hard because hard work pays off. He was proud of us and made sure to let each one of us know in his own way we were all his favorite. :-) Uncle Albert moved away to Cape Breton. He was getting married. I didn't want him to move away, but I love that he was a family man and always made time to visit and come back home. He and his first wife Nina made me their flower girl and I was so honored to take that roll in such an important day of his life. I will always be grateful for all of the laughs and guidance you gave me, being my Uncle. You always spoke so highly of your daughts and were the proudest father. Because of you I gained two amazing Aunts Nina and Trish. Two incredibly intelligent beautiful sisters, my cousins Nicole and Madison. I will cherish the time we had and be happy when we meet again in spirt. ❤️
