Dianne Waters (nee Collins)

Oct 9th 1946 — Sep 18th 2023 (76 years)

Biography

Our wife, mother, grandmother, Dianne Waters, age 76, of Prospect Bay, NS, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023 surrounded by her family that loved her dearly. Dianne was born on October 9, 1946 in Halifax, NS and grew up in the North End of Halifax on Robie Street before moving permanently to Prospect Bay, right next door to her twin sister, to raise her family. She is predeceased by her parents, George and Connie (nee Connors) Collins, and twin brothers (stillborn). She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas, and her 3 children that she never stopped mothering, Tom (Cheryl), Robert, and Alana (Jon Lane), all of Prospect Bay; her twin sister Donna (Joe) Melvin, sister Darlene (Gary) Cullen, of Prospect Bay, and brother Tom (Diane) Collins of Halifax; her grandchildren that she adored, Sophia (aka Munchie), Josh (aka Bug), Victoria, Hilary, Ashley, and Ethan, and two great-grandchildren, Cali and Austin, and many nieces and nephews.
Mom worked at the Sou' Wester restaurant in Peggy’s Cove as the hostess for many years, often still commenting with clever sarcasm whenever she saw a tour bus heading in that direction. She retired early to take care of her grandchildren, Sophia and Josh, who she loved like they were her own. She went back to work later in life to “get out of the house” and worked the past few years at Prospect Foods. She loved meeting new people, always offered a comforting hug, and was well loved in her community by many.

Mom loved to crochet and blessed many of her family and friends with her blankets that we will all cherish. She loved the beach, and her favorite was Summerville Beach, and we are glad we had the opportunity to take her there this past summer and enjoy it with her. We have many memories of the laughter and special moments that we shared with her and are blessed to have had her as our wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt.

There will be no service per her request. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to a local SPCA shelter in her memory.

“To our mother in heaven, thank you for always loving us and being there whenever we needed you. Even though you are no longer here with us in body, we know you will always walk beside us in spirit. You will be forever in our hearts and missed every single day. We love you”.

For Donna. “Even though I couldn’t stay, I’ll still be with you every day. Your sister and twin I’ll always be, for I am you and you are me”.
