Biography

Gus was a brilliant, well read man. Gus really did have the answers to most problems. Born in Halifax, Gus met his love in Alymer and started picking tobacco as a young man, he soon learned that working with your hands wasn't his thing unless you were counting cash. Travelling throughout Southern Ontario as a happily married father of two, Gus thrived in various financial institutions which brought him to settle in Burlington. He then proceeded to Manage nursing homes eventually becoming president of the ONHA and helping oversee the construction of St. Joes Hospital in Hamilton and a Retirement Home in Kingston. Then the ride got pretty wild for Gus and his family when he decided to buy some land and develop 165 Condominiums. Gus was most interested in all Sports. Golf and Hockey he excelled in. Many will remember his great coaching abilities. When Gus danced with Ricky, it always made you cry. Gus was the most positive influence in our lives and he will be missed forever to anyone who knew him. There just isn't enough space on this page to describe what an amazing person he was. Loving husband to the late Ricky Walters, Wonderful father to David (Wendy) and Linda, proud grandfather to Jordan, Katie, Kyle, Morgan and Mitchell and Great grandpa to Evelyn and Heidi. Rest in peace. We all Love You so much.

Where do you start? A very fun loving and talented couple. I was thinking of Ricky and her many talents for design, decorating.

I figure, she now will have Heaven redecorated and ready for Gus.

Gus was intelligent, very funny and loving.

Philip had such great memories of him and Ricky.

A great couple gone, but now together again.

RIP greatly missed and always will be ❤️

Gus had a generous soul who went out of his way to help others . I’ll never forget him going to spend time with my stepdad before he passed just to keep things upbeat. Be at peace and until our next tee time.

Papa Gus always told the truth and never sugar coated anything. Papa had such a loving heart and loved us all to the moon and back. His charley horses would put me in so much pain that it taught me how fragile our bodies can be. So many lessons learnt from Gus and I’ll forever be grateful. Will miss you tons. Rest In Peace Papa xoxo.

Gus kept his friends and family entertained. He always had a joke. Whether I thought it was funny? meh! ;) He loved to talk, to tell stories and gave us his own comedic humour. He brought an immense amount of laughter and joy into my world and I will miss him dearly. xoxo

My Father loved good food and hockey, but most of all he was a funny, loving father and a God fearing Honorable Man.

So sorry to hear today of Gus' passing. We were friends in High School and later were in-laws for a few years when I was married to Ricky's brother. I recall many fun times when Gus was in the crowd. Sending big warm hugs to his two children and the rest of his family.
