Kuberan Rajasingham

Kuberan Rajasingham

Mar 31st 1962 — Mar 8th 2023 (60 years)

Biography

Kuberan passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 8, 2023 in Toronto, Canada. He is survived by the love of his life Tiyani (wife) and two sons, Dishan (Kristin) and Shihan (Sandra) who were the pride and joy of his life. Kuberan was the son of celebrated surgeon Dr. Albert Rajasingham and Irangani Rajasingham (nee Ilangantileke), step-brother of the late Rudra Rajasingham, Chitto Rajasingham and the late Rukmani De Croose. He loved travelling the world, which was possible through his work in the travel industry. In addition to destination vacations, he paved the way for his family to move from Sri Lanka, to Dubai and his final resting place in Canada. Kuberan had a deep love for nature, rugby and was a life-long martial arts enthusiast. He was passionate about embracing new sports and always led by example - of late he pursued Tai Chi, cycling, golf, watersports and playing the guitar. Kuberan’s thirst for current affairs, love of reggae music, and dancing is well known amongst those close to him. He valued good health above all worldly possessions and encouraged everyone who knew him to live an active life as he did. Kuberan leaves a legacy that was deeply grounded in Christian faith and unyielding moral values with which, he helped colleagues, friends, and family alike. Those who knew him best, will take comfort in knowing that he is now resting on that eternal beach in the sun, with a Guinness in hand and a smile on his face! There will be a celebration of life for family and friends as follows: Friday, March 31, 2023 from 11:30am to 3:00pm - The Meadowvale Village Hall, 6970 Second Line w, Mississauga In lieu of flowers, a tribute to Kuberan can be made by donating to https://trilliumgiving.ca or https://uhnfoundation.ca/

Notes of Condolences about Kuberan

Kuberan was a big part of my childhood. Especially in my teens with Kubba trying out Juddo, finishing the food, breaking papaw trees and not to forget flying boonga kites. For me to write memories would be impossible as I would not have enough time or space to do so.

He was my brother, a part of my everyday life, in and out of my house etc. Up to date I am a happy human being thanks to Kubba being in my life.

All I can say is growing up without a Kubba in my life would have never been the same. I am going to miss him like crazy.

Love you Kubba always and forever.

Tiyani, Dishan and Shihan,

I am a firm believer of what I read many moons ago which I still remember that every life is created equal but how it is lived for others that makes one different and makes the person unique.

Don’t know if these were the exact words but I always equate the saying “living for others” is a mantra that Kuberan taught and exercised every day.

I remember Kuberan tackling a difficult passenger at the airport and calming the situation. I marveled at the simplicity and the uniqueness of this great person. To make a connection with another person be it with humour, courage or strength is a quality to always be admired.

I have procrastinated in writing a few words, I could not accept the reality that Kubba is no longer with us. Never did I think I would ever be in this situation. .

I have to had to reflect on a few great quotes to draw inspiration to pen a few words about my very close and dear friend Kubba. We have as a family enjoyed the pleasure of having known Kubba and whilst we now know he is no longer with us on this earth his greatest moments & memories will forever survive.

Friendship transcends death. Memories made will never be forgotten and created a lasting impression on each and everyone of us that he has left behind. I know we have all become better people for having such a wonderful friend.

Lastly. I would like to quote from Ernest Hemingway.

"Saying goodbye isn't for us. Instead, I will say that I look forward to seeing my friend again, each time I am reminded of him/her through a phrase, a joke, even an article of clothing. These are the things that will keep us close despite death."

“If people bring so much courage to this world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.”

― Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms

Dear Kubs, we will miss you my friend but I can assure you, you will never be far away from us because your memories will forever be with us in almost everything we do. Finally, there is one thing we as a family will never hear again and that is you calling out "Ah Sandy!!! What is that? " whenever there is some food being passed around. Love you my dear friend and may you rest in peace in Gods arms.

Our heartfelt condolences to the loving family he has left behind.

God bless…. we will always be there for you.

We will miss you terribly, mate. We will especially miss the joyfully bad rounds of Golf, Saturday mornings watching the 6 Nations and Rugby Championship, the hilarious banter around Fauci and DJT, your food recommendations and, most of all, your mates-hip. You brought a lot of light and laughter to the Almeida household, which we will remember always. Rest easy, my friend. You were one of the best

My brother and dearest friend,

I have no words to express my sadness. .. just the memories and your voice in my inner ear....

It was just a few days before we had that hilarious video call,... And the next day... time stood still 😞..

It is well known that I was closer to you than my own siblings, as you were always there for me, no matter what, and I too shared your ups and downs in life since the mid 70's.

Sadly I couldn't visit you or be with you this time for reasons you and I know too well...

However we will meet again, and I will hold your sweet memory close to my heart always. I will be with Dishan and Shihan and they still have me.

I have no more tears in me, for I have shed more than most in life ..you were the only one who stood by me, and I know you will continue to do so from heaven... Hug my darling daughter Natasha... Keep her beside you... Till we meet again... I love you bro, 💞

Dearest Tiyani,

We are lost for words; A part of our life has been snatched away . We will miss Kuberan dearly.

To Russell, Kuberan was a brother, a treasured friend, a Mentor, a Buddy, and his passing has left a big void in his life, He is going to miss having a drink with Kuberan , be it getting good advice, discussing current affairs or reminiscing good old stories from KLM days.

Russell and I will always cherish our time spent together, our BBQ meet ups, our crazy parties , that random evening meet up and the laughter We’ve shared throughout the years. We are ever so grateful for the good times we have shared with him. Kuberan was the kindest soul with the warmest heart. He was larger than life and we will forever hold on to these memories.

Wishing you and the boys/girl’s comfort and strength in the coming days and months knowing that Kuberan is resting in peace with Jesus in Paradise.

With a broken heart, Russell & Garnett

Kubs and I met in 1988 when I joined KLM in Dubai and we hit it off instantly, but then Kubs easily got on well with everyone. There wasn't a single day at work where we didn't have a good laugh mostly at our own "bloopers"... of which there were many.

Kubs always had a kind and often humorous word for everyone. He treated everyone with the same respect and dignity, regardless of their position. He never spoke ill of anyone, even of people that drove him up the wall. It wasn't like he was oblivious to people's flaws; he simply chose not to dwell on them and focus on the good instead. With his smile and wit, Kubs had a way of making everything seem okay, even when it wasn't.

He was much more than a friend and I will miss our monthly chats, but I will always hold his memory close to my heart. To Tiyani, Dihan, and Shihan, may God bless you with the strength you need to get through this very difficult time. I hope you all find some comfort in knowing how much Kubs meant to everyone who knew him.

Rest in peace, my "old father". You'll be very much missed, but never ever forgotten.

I’m from way back when Kubs was a fledgling drinker at BCal and joined, under pressure, B. Kurian, Esq and a bunch of other reprobates in Thursday lunchtime sessions, when we had six-and-a-half day weeks here in Dubai, and deserved a break!

Despite that, he grew up and did all the good stuff whilst some of us are still waiting.

Unconscionable waste to go so quick, Mister, but you played a blinder!

My condolences to all left behind.

Dearest Family and a Wonderful Friend Kuberan,

Even though we met a few years ago and our informal chats in my drive way were very in-depth, knowledgeable and full of humor. I will definitely miss the ring of our home doorbell on an occasional Sunday afternoon which I always looked forward to when my wife says Kuberan is here to pickup the food. My Dearest Brother even though we were travel professionals for competition KLM & BA we always shared a good laugh and hug when we met.

It's not goodbye Kuberan it is "so long"

See you soon one day Brother RIP
