Nancy Doreen Staples
Dec 6th 1933 — Apr 28th 2023 (89 years)
Biography
Nancy Doreen Staples at the age of 89 passed away peacefully on April 28,2023 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina leaving an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her loved ones. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Clarence Staples, partner Randy Sidebottom, parents Peter and Pauline Kowalchuk, sons Murray and Orville, brother John, sisters Jenny and Gladys. Born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba, Nancy later moved to Winnipeg, and then to Regina, where she made her final home. After leaving the farming community she took great pride in being a Health Care Aide at St. James Kiwanis Lodge until her retirement. An avid socializer, Nancy had an infectious personality, and her warm smile could win anyone over. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and her home was always open to visitors. She enjoyed reading, cooking, fishing, gardening, music, playing cards and board games with her loved ones. She loved all sports and was a die-hard fan of the Jays, Jets and Bombers. Nancy's family was her pride and joy, and she leaves to cherish in memory her loving children – Lynn, Caroline (Sandy), Randy (Cheryl), Chris, John (Michele), Barry (Jodi), Dale (Tracy). Her kind and nurturing nature was instilled in her children, and they have carried it forward to their own families. Nancy was also blessed with a large family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she held close to her heart. Although Nancy's passing has left behind countless memories of a life well-lived, she will always be remembered for her unwavering kindness, infectious laughter, and the love she spread wherever she went. Her loss is immeasurable, but she will be fondly remembered by all those who knew her. A very special thank you to Bahri and staff at McMurchy Care Home for giving our mother a place to call home where she fully enjoyed and appreciated being catered to. As well, we extend special thanks to the doctor’s and staff of 3D and 3A Pasqua Hospital for their exceptional compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at the Hodgson Cemetery at 12:00pm on May 20, 2023 with Pastor James Thiessen officiating.

Although I haven’t seen Lynn or her mother Nancy in many many years, Nancy’s welcoming ways have always stayed with me. The brief time that I lived in Winnipeg and hung out with Lynn, her family readily included me in their family activities. Lots of laughter, delicious food, fun and always made everyone feel part of the family. Nancy’s contagious smile will always be remembered and treasured.
My eldest sister, Violet Miles (nee Staples) was a friend of Nancy’s and she will be truly missed by her.
We send our condolences to you all, Nancy was an extraordinary person and will be truly missed but will remain in our hearts and memories forever.

My memories go back to my childhood. We were farming families 2 miles apart. Lynn, Randy and Carol attended the same school- Leroy a one room school that had 8 grades taught by ONE TEACHER, and we Walked to and from school. Very rarely did we get rides. Every time I saw Nancy I remember her contagious smile and her kindness. As young as I was she would always chat with me for 5 to 10 minutes before Lynn and I would go play. When they moved to Winnipeg, I was sad as I missed this family. Whenever we had a social, funeral or other get together happening in F. B. , we would have a great visit. NANCY ALWAYS HAD THAT INFECTIOUS SMILE. Nancy you will be truly ❤️ missed, but I'm sure you are having fun with your family and friends in Heaven. R.I.P. Our sincere condolences to family and friends of this lovely lady..

I met Nancy through her son Chris when we started dating, she was an amazing woman who had a huge heart for everyone who she met. Chris and I had 2 children Conrad Victor and Cynthia Mary Rose who was born on Nancy and Clarence's anniversary June 6th 1994. I remember when Nancy took me to buy my first car and laughed when I pushed on the gas and fish tailed because I was new at driving lol
Rest in Peace Nancy
You will be Forever Loved and Always Remembered ❤

My mom and I met Nancy about a year and a half ago when mom moved into the McMurchy Care Home. Nancy warmly welcomed my mom and they became fast friends. I still chuckle recalling the first time I was there considering the home for my mom, Nancy pleasantly greeted me and asked if I was moving in! (was only in my 50s then!) I will certainly miss chatting with Nancy while visiting my mom! What a wonderful lady!!

One of the things I’ll remember most is her youthful glow. The trait most remarked on by others. Her warmth and gentleness always solidified it.
As the eldest grandchild, I was fortunate enough to have several years with only myself for grandma to dote on. Here a tradition started of never leaving the house without cookies in hand and hearing the words, “Grandma loves you”
I am grateful for the memories of love and kindness. Rest in Peace Grandma.
